The secret to achieving any goal in life, however big or small, lies in mastering the mind. I’ve personally been able to conquer all of my dreams – becoming a marine engineer, traveling the world, building an athletic physique, publishing my book, becoming a confident speaker, etc. by focusing on my mind. Throughout this website I’ll be sharing with you my routines, rituals, strategies and ideas that’ll help you achieve your goals as well!
I am a 27 year old Marine Engineer. I was born in Dalmiapuram, a small town in the State of Tamilnadu, India. My parents are of modest means. My father works as a fitter in a cement factory called Dalmia Bharat Cements and my mother is a humble homemaker. My younger sister is married and lives in Hosur. She is the assistant Principal of a middle school there.
I completed my schooling at Vivekananda Matriculation School and Dalmia Higher Secondary school; both located in my home town. I grew up to be an introvert spending most of my time with books and inspiring ideas, than with people. Ever since childhood, I wanted to excel at everything I did and was allergic to being average. I was outstanding in academics and sports; took part actively in all extra-curricular activities like drawing, writing, singing and left no stone unturned.
I had the mindset which said ‘someone has to be the best at something, why can’t that someone be me’. I was elected as the ‘School pupil leader’ and ‘President of literary Association’ during my days at School. When I passed out of high school, the management honored me with the STAR OF HONOUR title, which is the most prestigious award given to the best student of the graduating batch.
After schooling I discovered that I did not want to pursue a career that involved sedentary work like sitting in front of a computer all day long. I was very much interested in understanding how large machines are designed, their operating mechanisms and their troubleshooting methods. With all these puzzle-pieces falling in place, it struck like a chord that Marine Engineering was a tailor made vocation for me.
I then moved to Chennai to pursue a degree in Marine engineering at Chennai School of Ship management. I finished graduation with flying colors and scored distinction in many subjects. In 2011, I got selected in campus and joined as a junior Engineer in a Hong Kong-based company called Wallem Ship Management and started my sailing days. I cleared competitive exams in my field (MEO class 4 exams conducted by the Directorate General of shipping, Govt of India.) and acquired a Certificate of Competency in Merchant Navy. Over the years, I got promoted to the rank of third engineer in the hierarchy of engineers in Merchant Shipping.
Life at sea is completely different and is very difficult for a land-lubber to comprehend. But for a big-time loner like me, looking at the Sea and the sky every morning, is a heavenly experience.
I have sailed across the oceans of the world and stepped foot on so many countries like Columbia,Venezuela, Brazil, United States, England, France, Denmark, Morocco, Lithuania, Singapore, Algeria, Turkey, China, Japan, Korea – to name a few.
I am a person who often strives to explore the range of possibilities of the mind and body. Hard work and single-minded focus are my biggest maxims. Throughout my journey, I have faced a lot of critics and people who didn’t believe in my dreams. Right from school days, I have had peers who would try to belittle me.
I believe that, “It is necessary that when you have an uncommon desire to become great and to walk away from average crowd , you will have negative talkers around you. But the secret is to silence them with your achievements.”
I am an ardent reader and love reading motivational books. I am also fond of biographies of great men. I believe that time is the most precious asset in life and I hate aimless wandering. Pencil drawing and water-coloring are my favourite hobbies. I am an athlete with great interests in physical fitness, running and weight training. I also play cricket, basketball, table tennis like a pro.
Journal writing is also my favourite pastime and I believe that if life is worth thinking about, it is worth writing about. I am a Toastmaster and a motivational speaker as well. I love talking to students at schools and colleges and inspire them to take actions and achieve their goals and dreams. My greatest dreams are to become a chief engineer in my field and become an International Motivational Speaker.
